IF THE WORLD is but a stage and we are all players in it, then the stars of this production must be Natalie and Nicole Albino. To reflect their accomplishments best it would take the form of a musical. At least that’s the perspective of music’s twin sensations Nina Sky. Three years removed from their initial baptism of stardom, these two sisters of Puerto Rican Heritage are ready to unleash the full potential of their talents. The arrival of Nina Sky’s second major album, The Musical, this summer, should define their future path in this business.
Nicole and Natalie spent the day at the DTM offices for their photo shoot. They shared their views on life, music industry politics, the price of sudden fame and their latest album. They live simple and they live clean. They hustle for what’s theirs and they take their responsibility as role models seriously. Natalie explains, “We have two sisters who are sixteen and six. We both try to send out a positive message. There’s not really pressure. We know what to do and what not to do.”
Growing up in Marine Terrace, Queens in Astoria, NY, Nina Sky displayed their creativity early writing a song called ‘sisters’ at age seven. The inspiration came from different areas of their family. Whether it was an older brother helping Natalie to DJ or their stepfather, who was also a DJ, opening their ears to a variety of music styles. “Our Dad is a DJ, there wasn’t a kind of music that wasn’t really represented in our household.” adds Natalie.
